While we are aware that a majority of Cambodian Americans are ethnically mixed, as well as a rise in Cambodian nationals, we still want to prioritize individuals who have closer ties to being ethnically Khmer (not to be confused with nationality, which is to be Cambodian). For example, someone may be born in Cambodia, but be ethnically Chinese or Vietnamese, and still practice Khmer culture; they would simply identify themselves as Chinese Cambodian or Vietnamese Cambodian, but not ethnically Khmer. While Khmer is the indigenous ethnic group in Cambodia, it is now becoming marginalized in Cambodia as well as facing much more systemic hardships and oppression, along with discrimination of their stereotypically much darker skin, textured hair, broader noses, and fuller lips, which is why this project looks to raise the voices of these people and share to the world. As a result, Coloring Cambodia is accepting interviews on the basis you can confirm that the Khmer ethnicity applies to you to a considerable extent. In addition, Coloring Cambodia is only accepting interviewees aged 18 or older.
